The family, friends and the Faculty of Science colleagues at the University of Ottawa were devastated by the news of the sudden death of Jack Cornett.
To celebrate his life, the University of Ottawa created a fund entitled the Dr. R Jack Cornett Passion for Life and Science Award.
This award has been generously created in memory of Dr. R Jack Cornett. A dedicated professor and researcher, Dr. Cornett was the Canada Research Chair in Radiochemistry and Environmental Health and a member of the departments of Chemistry, and Earth and Environmental Sciences since 2012. Throughout his career at Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, the Radiation Protection Bureau (Health Canada), the Department of National Defense, and uOttawa, Dr. Cornett created a collaborative work environment that encouraged the pursuit of knowledge and personal growth. Not only did he pursue his career, he also took part in volunteer work and enjoyed a love of the outdoors.
The Award will be offered to an undergraduate science student who is completing an honours project and who exemplifies the qualities that Jack embodied – critical thinking, curiosity, a love of science, and a commitment to both work and personal pursuits.
Help us in sharing his passion by donating to the Dr. R Jack Cornett Passion for Life and Science Award.
