Several researchers received funding through a new tri-council program, New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF). The new funding program designed to support risky interdisciplinary research will support various projects.
On March 22-23, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics hosted the Canadian Mathematics Department Chairs meeting. Directors and Heads from all Mathematics and Statistics department in Canada exchanged thoughts and ideas on research and teaching of the subject. The highlights of the event included a talk by Dr. Mona Nemer, Chief Science Advisor of Canada, and a presentation on future of research funding by NSERC.
