The Department of Physics specializes in photonics, biophysics and quantum materials. With an average of $9 million in annual research funding received over the past five years, it is renowned for its international Centre for Research in
Photonics (CRPU), Canada Excellence Chair and many Canada Research Chairs. The recently completed STEM Complex and the Advanced Research Complex (ARC) house state-of-the-art labs and private sector partner labs for collaborative projects.
